Second Amendment
Senator Baker is an unquestionable supporter of the Second Amendment and the rights of gun owners. In 2008, he earned an “A+” rating from the National Rifle Association for his support of legislation important to gun owners, a grade that is based on the Senator’s lifetime voting record as a public servant. The NRA issues the “A+” to political leaders who have an excellent voting record on critical NRA issues, and have made a vigorous effort to promote the Second Amendment.
In 2009, Sen. Baker co-sponsored Senate Joint Resolution 3, which proposed to create a constitutional right to enable Arkansans to hunt, fish, trap and harvest wildlife. The NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action called the “Right to Hunt” constitutional amendment “a winner for Arkansas,” praising the effort to guarantee a public right to hunt and fish.
During the past decade, Senator Baker has been one of the foremost authors and supports of Pro-Gun legislation in the Arkansas General Assembly, earning the confidence and support of gun owners throughout the state.
