FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: January 26, 2010 Alice Stewart 501-658-1654 Cell NEWS RELEASE Sen. Gilbert Baker Statement on Rumors to Switch to Congressional Race (CD2) Baker: “Washington DC is not listening to the people of Arkansas. We are tired of government bailouts and run-away spending.” Conway, Ark. – United States Senate Candidate Senator Gilbert Baker has issued the following statement in response to recent political developments: “I am not running for the House of Representatives. I am, and will be, a candidate for the United States Senate. After much deliberation with my family, I announced on September 4th that this is not a time to stand on the sidelines and be a spectator. I now believe that more than ever. Let me be crystal clear: Washington D.C. is not listening to the people of Arkansas. We are tired of government bailouts and run-away spending. I support a federal balanced budget amendment, extending the Bush tax cuts, and a free-market economy. I, like the people of Arkansas, want an economy built on sound fiscal policy, not massive debt and government takeovers. I support a 12-year term limit for members of congress, because loyalty to voters is more important than longevity of office. I am firmly committed to being a check and balance on the Washington establishment. I am grateful for the support and the investment of so many Arkansans as I have communicated with voters across the state. This will not be an easy campaign. However, I am firmly committed to defeating Blanche Lincoln and I will stand up to Barack Obama’s extreme agenda.”
